We previously mentioned that Matson vessel Maunawili sustained significant damage due to heavy seas in its last passage to Long Beach. It’s regular schedule would have been to depart Long Beach on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Matson planned to delay the vessel departure to Honolulu until Sunday February 15, 2015 so that repairs could be accomplished. Matson advised us today that the damage was so significant that they could not repair the vessel in time. Consequently, the Maunawili did not sail on Sunday.
In order to keep shipments moving, Aloha Freight Forwarders has trucked some containers up to Oakland in order to make the next scheduled departure. Additionally, Matson has committed to us that all outstanding containers in Long Beach will be moving this Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in order to clear the backlog.
