Negotiations between the International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) have not resulted in a new contract as of yet. The 6 year collective agreement which covered nearly 20,000 dockworkers at 29 West Coast ports expired July 01, 2014. Labor shortages and low productivity are still an issue throughout the west coast. However, Matson’s vessels are still planning to run on schedule. We will continue to monitor the situation and advise updates as known.
