The Office Clerical Unit of the ILWU has initiated a labor action at a Los Angeles port terminal. There is currently a stoppage of work at pier 400. We do not expect any issues with our freight for Hawaii at this time. Aloha Freight uses Matson exclusively and the Matson terminal has not had any issues. There may be a ripple affect from the labor action, but we expect our freight sailing this Saturday to depart timely. Horizon Lines operations will likely be affected, if that is your preferred steamship line.
Update: We expect the Saturday vessel to depart as scheduled. However, we also anticipate congestion at the Matson terminal on Friday. Matson will be much busier than usual if the other steamship line is unable to load containers. We suggest that all freight be ready as early as possible Friday. That will help us to have all containers in the yard and loaded to the ship timely.
